Thank you for visiting “Beloved”!
I am touched by the chance to share more than six years of my heart’s sojourn poured into more than 400 poems, writings, and offerings on this site. This was originally a ‘secret’ place to write when I felt stirred by words that seemed to unravel themselves. I was speaking to God, the Presence that comforted and granted all that my inner soul ever longed for. I did not expect to be found or read. I had 20 followers and we read each other’s poetry and encouraged one another.
In 2011, I wrote “Heart Motions” which expressed my heart’s experience of drawing near to God, feeling summoned and the need to surrender the false possessions of the heart.
My Joy comes from the gift of Grace from The Lord Jesus Christ. I wake each day with anticipation. My first thought is gratitude and a salutation to The Lord. In my heart is love that deepens like a river that swells with fresh water from an unlimited source. The peace that I longed for lives now in me, by His Presence. My story is just like everyone’s. Life had challenges and I was a great distance from perfect! The most miraculous thing about salvation is Forgiveness. That is a journey for us all.
I can still be stunned and challenged by life’s surprises but there is a permanent core that is ‘unshakable’. There is very acute pain and suffering that we do encounter in our mortal lives. In knowing God as the source of unceasing love, security, protection we find strength and courage.
I have been given a new way of living, seeing and receiving His Love that has altered my heart and my perspective. I am sixty five years old and these are the years of the most joy and contentment. My heart soars.
Isaiah 40:31 …but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Many parts of my heart’s story are candidly revealed in the poems that are archived on this site. It is vital to note, though that the story is not the whole of me or you. Each of our lives have burdens and challenges to overcome.
One of my earliest entries was this poem called “More Love”. I was calling deeply to God for a healing and filling of my heart with His Love.
I have witnessed that some lives seem to bear deeper burdens and survive graver challenges. We become strong in reliance upon Him. When we live in faith, we discover His Nearness and Unceasing Love.
We are known by a loving and miraculous God that seeks us directly; each one of us.
John 15:16 – 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
Our outer lives may seem different; background, ethnicity, culture…but Our Hearts formed in Spirit by Spirit..created as beloveds of the Great Beloved of All. We may forget at birth but the indwelling Spirit knows and longs to awaken.
Job 33:4-The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
We each have lives that include many stories; many themes that seem to weave in and out of our circumstances. For some it can feel like numerous passages that span the decades of one because of the many roles and challenges faced.
Many ask the question, “Why does God allow suffering?”. I surely desire to understand this when something hurts, especially when I become aware of the gravest of suffering and injustice that exists in all corners of the world. I look to The Gospel for answers and found a good exposition about it on the page linked below:
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
In my life and work, I had the opportunity and the gift to travel all over the world and back again. Originally I was a ballet dancer and traveled extensively.
I have written many poems about dancing. One of my favorites is called “Would that I had danced for you”.
Life has many stages; each has a beauty of its own, particular meaning and God with you. When we find Him, all is new. It is a beginning.
Ephesians 4-22 “that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.”
There comes a moment that we lean on God’s door and ask for help, finally understanding that we cannot fix life or walk further alone. The “way” that we have been praying has not worked; our approach seems fruitless. God’s Love becomes the most important thirst of your heart. Everything else can fall away.
1 Peter 1:23
“for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.”
In my life I have witnessed the face of love in the hearts of people in many different and far places, some in the midst of dire and challenging circumstances that called for a supreme courage and personal strength. I was humbled by the contrast of what I formerly called “challenges” in my own life. My heart has been altered by each person that I have met on my journeys. I have experienced their courage and their strength in times of dire need to survive,in conflict, war and circumstances that would invoke terror in most.
For all though, in facing what we fear the most, we face the distance between our shadows and God, who desires to embrace us in His Light and Merciful comfort. As we come Near to God, we find our hearts altered by the Miracle of His Love and Grace. First dawns of joy and awe stir us to a boldness that offers encouragement and new strength.
We begin to realize that our outer experiences, in this temporal world are bridges to finding God’s Presence which is eternal. We are called by His Love for us which is Unceasing and Relentless. He is our true Teacher and He calls us by our name.
It is said that we are called “His Beloved”.
Isaiah 43:13 1-3 “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…. From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can oppose what I do. No one can reverse my actions.
I pray that from our suffering and from our complacency comes awakening to the bold experience of God’s Presence for each and all. The miracle is that we can actually Know Him and partake of the Kingdom of God while we live by Faith, receiving the gift of Grace. Our lives can be transformed In Him….LWillows
2 Corinthians 5:6-10 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.
