Mother, I fall; a girl bows

Mother, time took you away so long ago now,
but when dreams awaken, I fall; a girl bows.

The last time in my arms I held onto you fast
whispering into those stilled and hushed last
moments to speak the love rushed from me
into the all of what emptied, what freed.

I whispered to forever in your soul, midway
curled into the warmth, a child begging to stay.
All of our dreams and hopes snapped in mid-air.
Life leaving, unexpected, no warning, fates’ dare.

Empty all hours when prayers were due
We lasted the night, yet lived without you.
In wakings to come, I bind you still loved.
With no measure, in God’s treasure,
we’ll be His Beloveds.
